THE INVISIBLE PART OF GETTING DRESSED

THE INVISIBLE PART OF GETTING DRESSED

You can’t see it. But somehow, it might be the thing people remember most.

There is always a final moment before leaving the house.

The outfit is done. Shoes on. Bag packed. Maybe one last look in the mirror.

And then: perfume.

Technically, it changes absolutely nothing about what you're wearing.

And yet somehow, it changes everything.

A scent can make a white shirt feel sexier. Give an oversized suit a little softness. Make you feel dressed up when you're wearing nothing more complicated than denim and a knit.

Perhaps that's why we don't really think of fragrance as beauty at BIGGLES.

We think of it as part of getting dressed.

“The most personal thing you wear might be the one thing nobody can see.”

FINDING YOUR SCENT IS A LITTLE LIKE FINDING YOUR STYLE

There was a time when people talked about having a signature scent.

One fragrance. Every day. Forever.

We like the idea, but we're not sure we want to choose.

Because just as you don't dress exactly the same way every morning, why should you always want to smell the same?

Some days call for something warm and woody. Others for something clean, fresh or almost invisible. A fragrance for long summer evenings can feel completely wrong on a dark November morning and vice versa.

So perhaps the modern fragrance wardrobe should look a little more like your actual wardrobe.

A small collection. Different moods. All unmistakably you.

At BIGGLES, ours currently includes Centrale Perfumería, Mad et Len, Sophia Mae and Cottoncake.

Four names. Four different worlds.

A LITTLE FORMENTERA, PLEASE

Sometimes a fragrance isn't just a fragrance.

It's a place.

That is exactly the feeling we get from Centrale Perfumería. The scents have that Mediterranean quality that immediately makes you think of sun-warmed skin, salty air and long afternoons that accidentally become evenings.

It's the olfactory equivalent of packing very little and somehow having everything you need.

Effortless, sensual and slightly escapist.

The kind of fragrance you smell on your coat the next morning and immediately want to go back.

“Some perfumes smell beautiful. Others make you want to book a flight.”

THE DARKER SIDE: MAD ET LEN

Then the mood changes completely.

Mad et Len doesn't really do conventional pretty.

Its fragrance world feels darker, earthier and more mysterious. The kind of scent that makes you lean in because you can't immediately work out what you're smelling.

And we like that.

Not everything needs to be instantly understandable.

Paired with an all-black outfit, oversized tailoring or a heavy winter knit, fragrance becomes almost textural, another layer you can't see.

If Centrale Perfumería takes us somewhere warm, Mad et Len makes us want to stay inside after dark.

SOPHIA MAE: THE EVERYDAY RITUAL

Sophia Mae approaches scent from another direction.

Softer. Intimate. Connected to those small rituals that make an ordinary morning feel a little better.

Because perfume doesn't always need to announce your arrival.

Sometimes it's just for you.

The fragrance you apply after showering. The scent on your skin underneath a knit. That little moment before the day starts when you're still at home, coffee in hand, deciding what to wear.

Luxury doesn't always have to be extravagant.

Sometimes it's simply making the everyday feel less everyday.

COTTONCAKE: QUIET, PERSONAL, CLOSE

And then there is Cottoncake.

A name that already feels soft.

Its place within our fragrance wardrobe is for those moments when you don't necessarily want your perfume to enter the room before you do.

Something personal.

Something close.

The fragrance equivalent of the perfect white tee, beautifully washed denim or the knit you instinctively reach for again and again.

Easy doesn't have to mean forgettable.

Quite the opposite.

WEAR YOUR PERFUME LIKE YOUR CLOTHES

Maybe we should stop asking “What is the best perfume?”

It's a little like asking what the best jacket is.

For whom?

For where?

For which version of yourself?

The fun is in finding something that feels like you or perhaps like the person you feel like being that particular day.

Wear something woody with feminine tailoring. Something soft with an all-black look. Take a Mediterranean scent into the middle of winter simply because you miss summer.

There aren't really rules.

And please don't save the expensive bottle for special occasions.

Wear it on Tuesday.

“If fashion is how you introduce yourself without speaking, fragrance is what lingers after you've left.”

THE BIGGLES FRAGRANCE SHELF

Bringing fragrance into BIGGLES was never about suddenly becoming a traditional perfumery.

It was about adding another layer to the world we're already creating.

Clothes you want to live in. Accessories that make an outfit yours. Objects for the home. And fragrances that can become part of all those everyday rituals in between.

Centrale Perfumería. Mad et Len. Sophia Mae. Cottoncake.

Different scents for different people, moods and moments.

Come smell them.

Try them on your skin.

Walk around for a while.

Because unlike a jacket, you'll probably know immediately whether it looks good on you.

Perfume needs a little more time.

And maybe that's exactly what makes finding the right one so special.
